Marvin Bower lived the entire 20th century, from 1903 until 2003. Joining the Firm in 1933, he retired in 1992, serving into his ninth decade at the request of his partners. He served as managing director from 1950 to 1967. Marvin's goal with McKinsey & Company was to build an enduring, values-based institution.
